Saturday, May 16

Several days have passed since my last blog due to both technical and internet problems.  If you are reading this, then I have been able to at least over come some of the issues.  Besides my blog, I’ve had other major technical problems.  But am starting to get those under control.

I have entered the autonomous community of Castile and Leon which is comparative to a single US state and Burgos is a large city located there.   It contains a very large cathedral which is considered a masterpiece of French inspired High Gothic architecture.   The immensity of the building, particularly as seen from the inside, is breathtaking.  The extreme details seem endless.  The oil paintings hang in every area of the cathedral.  The works of sculptures, wood carvers and makers of metal and brass works are in every inch of this monument to God.

There are those who have walked the Camino in the last several years that say  the pilgrims should take 2-3 days here. I’ve chosen my stay for multiple reasons.   Art and architecture are interests of mine.   A time of healing is needed, not for injuries but general wear and tear from almost 200 miles of trail so far. Technology issues sometimes take time to solve.  Weather!  It has gotten quite cold here in the last few weeks with rain that makes the cold sink in.  I am trying to wait the weather out a little.   I just cannot walk in 32- 36 degree days with rain.   When you pack for a long walk, weigh is important and all my clothes, including my jacket, are very light weight.

The food, especially in the bigger cities is extraordinarily delicious.   I’ve tried foods I’ve wanted to taste for several years.

The weather will be warm next week and I will be back to walking Monday.
